RED MERCURY to close ECU Film Festival

Inspired Movies'political thriller, Red Mercury, was selected as the closing film of the European Independent Film Festival (ECU) on Sunday 26th March in Paris. Described as being "Europe's answer to Sundance", the festival was held at the prestigious Bibliotheque Nationale de France.

In addition, Peter Postlethwaite was nominated for and won 'Best Actor' for his role as Gold Commander and Stockard Channing was nominated for and won 'Best Actress' for her role as the restaurant owner, Penelope.

ECU has been created as a showcase for "the best of independent European film" and all those involved in the creation of Red Mercury are very proud the film was been selected as the Fetsival's grand finale.

Red Mercury's importance comes from being the first major British feature film to tackle the actions and causes of 9/11 and post 9/11 terrorism, one of the most significant issues facing Europe today. Films on a similar theme by Oliver Stone and others are currently in production in the US. Red Mercury is being showcased at ECU as the first major film to explore the issue from a European perspective.

The ECU festival was held on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of March. Details of the festival can be found here
