created as a showcase for "the best of independent
European film" and all those involved in the creation
of Red Mercury are very proud the film was been selected
as the Fetsival's grand finale.
Red Mercury's
importance comes from being the first major British
feature film to tackle the actions and causes of 9/11
and post 9/11 terrorism, one of the most significant
issues facing Europe today. Films on a similar theme
by Oliver Stone and others are currently in production
in the US. Red Mercury is being showcased at ECU as
the first major film to explore the issue from a European
perspective.
The ECU festival
was held on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of March.
